For stably stratified lakes, deep water aeration is an interesting tool for aeration, precipitant addition, stripping of contaminants and nutrient reduction without destroying the stratification – an all-rounder.

Up to this day, Polycon has planned 75 Tibean (TIefenwasserBElüftungsANlage) for various applications in dams, swimming lakes and park ponds. The volume flows range from 30 m³/h to 10,000 m³/h.

The Tibean is designed specifically for each application. We also have standard versions for the smaller series, such as the Tibean (basic I)to(basic IV). These standardised versions are also available as Tibean (ice)for the Canadian winter.

This type of system has been used successfully worldwide for 25 years in the field of dam and lake rehabilitation. Polycon carries out the plant planning, construction, support and maintenance for these systems. 

  • The goal is to prevent the formation of digestive sludge and increased ammonium production. TIBEANs supply sufficient oxygen for the complete mineralisation of dying biomass.
  • Dinking water production costs should remain low. By maintaining an oxygen concentration of 4 mg/L, TIBEAN ensures the oxidation and precipitation of iron and manganese.
  • The formation of toxic hydrogen sulphide is to be prevented. Thanks to its oxygen-rich environment, TIBEAN prevents reductive processes and thus the formation of hydrogen sulphide.
  • The nutrient supply in the water is to be reduced. TIBEAN supports the fixation of phosphorus in the sediment. This generally improves the water quality (trophic reduction).
